a broken disposal leads to......

When we bought our house 5 1/2 yrs ago, we knew that it needed a little work. We have slowly done things and it is looking good. As we did projects, we realized what others probably already knew, each project requires at least 3 trips to Home Depot, double the amount of time that you thought, and more money than anticipated. The biggest problem with doing things ourselves has been anything that can go wrong....will. Mark has done a wonderful job with every upgrade though and I am so happy with everything.
We knew that the kitchen was going to be a lot of work and money so we have been putting it off. Then one day the garbage disposal stopped working. To my surprise, Mark said that it he had to replace the disposal, then we should just do the whole kitchen. The plan was to paint the dark stained cabinets (because they are good quality and don't need to be replaced, just updated), get a new countertop, sink, faucet and disposal.
The first few pictures are from the demo...what a mess. Fine dust from sanding the cabinets was all over the house for several days. Next came the priming and painting of the cabinets. Again a long task that took multiple days for multiple coats of primer, paint and polyurethane.
It is still a work in progress...I'll keep you posted as things progress.
