Hurray for Hollywood

Hollywood. You gotta love it. We spent some time in the LA area looking
for familiar sites as well as finding new ones. It was alot more fun than
I originally thought it would be. The kids loved Magic Mountain and we thought that Hollywood was great. Navigating by way of a $5 "map of the stars homes and famous crime scenes" we were able to find our way around the Hollywood Hills and surrounding valley. It was pretty cool seeing things we have all heard about (the Noho B of A shootout, Kodak Theater, The Walk of Stars, and stars homes). Our best find was Greystone Mansion, the former home of an oil barron that was made into a Beverly Hills city park. The mansion is beautiful, with gardens, koi ponds and an amazing view of the valley. It has been used in films like Ghost Busters, X-Men, but is now home to weddings, private functions and summer camps. Of course no trip to LA is worth it unless you eat at Pink's hot dogs or have a drink at the Dresden (Marty and Elaine still play there, just ask Mark) Swingers is one of his favorite movies.
